A Member of the Central Election Commission since 2011. Re-elected on 2nd February 2023. Performed the duties of a Member of the Commission also from 1999 to 2003.
Kusiņa has many-sided electoral experience. She has participated not only in organising the Saeima, municipal and the European Parliament elections, but also in holding various collections of signatures and referenda. Electoral experience has also been gained through the observation of elections in foreign countries: Armenia, Kyrgyzstan, Lithuania and Poland, as well as through participation in international conferences.
Since 1998 Kusiņa is a senior adviser to the Saeima faction of the Union of Greens and Farmers. Before that she had fulfilled the duties of an assistant to the Prime Minister. From 1993 to 1996 she worked at the Saeima as the senior adviser to the faction, an assistant to the secretary of the Saeima. From 1985 to 1988 she was a secretary at the Chancellery of the Ministry of Education. From 1988 to 1990 participated in the Popular Front of Latvia.
D. Kusiņa acquired a Bachelor of Social Sciences degree in Psychology at the Riga Higher School of Pedagogics and School Management.
